What is the Driveline, and Do I Need it Serviced?

What is the Driveline, and Do I Need it Serviced?

Most Des Moines drivers don’t even know what the driveline is, so it doesn’t get much attention. The driveline of your vehicle transfers power from the engine and transmission to the wheels. It is the axels, driveshaft, wheels, joints and differentials. These components handle the full force of your vehicle. Without the drive line, you’re not going anywhere! So, we need to take good care of it.

The parts and services needed vary whether you have a front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, all wheel drive or 4-wheel drive vehicle. The front and rear differential flush and transfer case flush are the main driveline flushes we recommend. Over time, fluid in these components break down and become contaminated. To help these parts run smoothly, we will remove the old lubricant and replace it with new differential fluid. Manufacturer’s recommend replacing the fluid every 60,000 miles.

The experts at Hilltop Tire Service have been trained and know what to look for and when to perform a flush if needed. We always have your safety in mind and don’t want you to spend hard-earned money on unnecessary repairs down the road because we didn’t take care of a small issue before it became a real problem.
