When shopping for replacement lawn mower tires, make sure to get a tire able to support the weight of your equipment. A tire’s ply rating will tell you how much weight it can support. The larger the ply number, the more weight the tire can hold. Our friendly staff is available to assist if you have any questions
Lawn and garden tires usually last for years if you take good care of them, but eventually they will wear out and you will have to replace them. Here are a couple indicators that it's time for new tires:
1) Low Tread: Bald tires or tires with very little tread won't perform very well and they can't provide the traction you need on the ground - especially after rain. You could even damage your lawn if there's no tread left.
Tip: Check the tread depth of your tires with an upside down penny in one of the grooves. If you see Lincoln's head completely, start shopping for new tires.
2) Dry Rot:If you notice sidewall cracking or rotten areas on the tire, change your tires right away. Dry rot causes tires to lose air pressure and can cause a tire blowout.
Tip: Prevent dry rot by storing tires out of the sun in a clean area. It's also a good idea to avoid cleaning products with harsh chemicals when cleaning your equipment and make sure your tire pressure is at the correct level.
